ARTLANDS SPOTLIGHT – Buried Country Live In Concert
Buried Country is the live concert version of Clinton Walker’s multi-media history of Aboriginal country music, a dynamic and moving song-cycle starring the legends of the genre performing some of its greatest hits. Long before Aboriginal painters, film-makers and dance companies were winning world-wide acclaim, it was country music that first gave Aboriginal people a voice in modern white Australia. Buried Country: Live in Concert is the ultimate celebration of Aboriginal country music, a touring stageshow adaptation of Clinton Walker’s ground-breaking book, film and album of the same name that brings together an extensive cast of singers and songwriters from across the generations and across the continent, performing a selection of the genre’s greatest hits.
Starring iconic elders like Roger Knox, Auriel Andrew and L.J.Hill and Central Desert legend Warren H. Williams along with younger artists like Leah Flanagan and Luke Peacock, the show will take audiences on a journey that’s at once sad, resolute and joyous, and it will ensure that the music, the songs and the stories live on.
