The Useless Assembly, RealArtWorks Incorporated – (nothing is) USELESS
- Old Dubbo Gaol
- Saturday 10:00am – 2:00pm
The Useless Assembly is a group of Artists from the Northern Rivers of NSW utilising obsolete technology and experimental process to create interactive and multi-disciplinary art. Involving core artists from RealArtWorks Inc. and electronic outfit Tralala Blip, the group of post-disability emerging and professional artists have made exhibitions/installations at Lismore and Wagga Wagga Regional Galleries in 2014 and 2015. They will present a showing of part creative development/part interactive artwork and part performance in the Old Dubbo Goal.
Audiences will be invited to interact with the project through physical engagement by manipulating the components of the exhibition. BYO audio cassettes to contribute towards a massive original artwork made from tapes, dinner to the Saturday evening show (tables, plates and cutlery provided). Place your head in the footage stocks and contemplate the ‘end of the human era’ as we film your face to be used in projections as part of the noise opera. Wear our art on your sleeve by choosing from our bank of our useless iconography and screen print it onto an item of your clothing (or a sticker, or a bag) to create a giant geomorphic artwork moving and static around the city.
